Terra cotta Miniature Mask

Pora Pora, East Sepik Provence PNG
TL Tested 100+ years old
Previous Collection: Private German Collection

This is another example of a miniature Terra cotta mask from the Pora Pora river. Reducing the imagery to pure traditional Sepik characteristics; the result is a wonderful conception that is primal and archaic. The elongated nose and angular plane of the face is quite reminiscent of the well known Sepik mosquito masks. This mask is pierced for attachment and it has a varied patina from age and exposure.

This mask stands 3.75 in tall
