Lime Container

Kalinga, Philippines
19th Century

Previous Collection: Armand Labbe - The ex curator at the Bowers Museum Santa Ana California

It is very rare to find a lime container with a figurative stopper or top, most are non-figurative. This wooden stopper is a beautifully rendered head of a pig. The features on the pig are sensitively done and the patina is soft and warm from excessive handling. The bamboo tube container still retains its original rattan on the top and bottom as well remnants of lime. In excellent original condition.

This lime container stands 4.75” tall.
