Bull Roarer
Aboriginal, Australia, 19th C.
A cord was originally attached to the hole at its bottom, allowing the handler to quickly turn it round and around, which produced a whirling sound. It is carved with non-metal tools, and its geometric design is similar to the patterns carved on the more commonly found sacred Turinga ancestor plaques.
Its height is 22 inches tall
