Stopper from a Bamboo Medicine Container

This old wooden stopper consists of a naturalistic rendition of a female ancestor. The figure is finely carved with an expressive face and beautiful flowing hair. There are also deeply incised floral patterns on the back of the figure. The patina is deep and encrusted from years of use and storage.

The Stopper stands 5 inches tall.
