Shrine Figure

Bamana, Mali
19th Century or earlier
Previous Collection: Richard Ulivitch, CA

Like a Giacommetti sculpture this fine forged iron figure is a minimalist representation of the human form. The delicate thin body is juxtaposed by its bold arms that project outwards from the body; almost in a flexed position. The face has no features enhancing the figures enigmatic abstraction. The surface is aged and varied from generations of use and exposure.

This figure stands 8 inches tall.
