Drum Finial

This is a fine and inventive example of a stone carved Lower Sepik drum finial. Conceived of a stylized ancestor figure with an amphibian attached to the back. The head of the figure is classic with it’s elongated nose and pierced septum. The figure retains many of its original pigments and exhibit’s a fine and varied patina from great age and use.

This finial stands 10” tall.
