Magic Amulet Korwar
Ancestor Figure

Geelvinck Bay, Dutch New Guinea,
19th century previous collection: Leiden Museum, Holland
inventory number L. 1699/1246

This figure is one of the finest magic charms I have ever handled. Despite its small size, the charm has great presence. The finely and delicately carved body and vast negative space between the limbs accentuates the power of the oversized head. On the right side the back portion of the arm is missing. It has a deep brown patina. It stands 4.5 inches tall.
