Full figurative pendants are rare amongst the Bobo. Used as personal artifacts and intimate in nature, these objects were prescribed by diviners as protection and to protect women during pregnancy. Made of a cast copper-alloy, these pendants were customized to enhance their significance to their owner, usually an adult woman. This crescent shaped pendant is ornately designed with the figure of a women at its center. The figure is beautify rendered. The long arms, dynamic face, and coiffure are heightened by the spiral designs on the figure’s sides.
