This rare gold weight is a miniature representation of the Akan earthenware funerary heads that are found at burial sites of important ancestors. The face is very expressive with its large nose and diminutive mouth, in addition to the coiffure being beautifully rendered in classic Ghana style. The extremely worn patina from handling is quite impressive. Custom mounted on a beautiful mahogeny stepped base.

This weight stands 1.5 inches in height.
