Ossuary End

Provenance: Karob collection, Boston, acquired in Jakarta in the 1970’s
Made of lightweight wood, this coffin end was part of a small coffin or ossuary that contained the bones of an infant. The guardian face has large protruding round eyes, a heart shaped facial structure and horn like ears. The aggressive face has a menacing presence, as the jaw juts outwards.
