The tribes of Liberia excel at creating miniature masks and produce more than any other culture in West Africa. The variety in form and expression is extensive. These miniature personal masks replicate the forms of masks used in powerful village ceremonies and dances. They protect the owner and are generally carried on the person. This examples rich and heavily encrusted patina makes it all the more intriguing. Loma ma go masks are much rarer than Dan ones.
