Very fine wooden puppets like this one are rare to find. Most available ones are crudely carved. This particular example is finely carved and displays a beautiful naturalism. The finely carved ears combined with the piercing eyes that are articulated and open mouth project a commanding expression. The carefully carved planes of its face flow together creating a cohesive, almost portrait-like appearance.  Tufts of hair are attached at the top, and remains of white and black pigment are still evident.  Carved from a medium density wood.
