Korwar amulets were believed to grant men courage and protection against disaster and were worn on the body. Carved from wood, this example features a standing figure at one end, designed in a classic style. Scrolling-shaped carvings represent the figure’s limbs, while the rectangular face with an arrow-shaped nose is distinctive of Korwar aesthetics. The original blue glass trade beads are still attached to the body of the amulet with hand-spun fiber cord. A very old label is still affixed to the bottom of the amulet.
