Lime Spatula
Papuan Gulf, Papua New Guinea, 19th century

Collected by Thomas Schulze-Westrum in situ at Karati village in 1966
Previous Collection: John Friede, Rye, New York

Lime spatulas from the Papuan Gulf are extremely rare. This old example is well worn and shows much use. The face has a very strong expression and its extension away from the spatula creates a bold presence.

The spatula stands 7.5 inches tall.
