Votive figures in Western Nepal were usually kept inside shrines and regularly nourished with offerings such as sacrificial blood, pigments, and smoke. The figures would exercise protection and power over nature. This votive figure is made of wood and is seated in a pious position. There is a dense layer of patina caused by repeated ceremonial offerings.
