Stopper to Shaman’s Medicine Container

This is an exceptional example of a Dayak wooden stopper. Carved from Borneo ironwood, the tightly carved mythological creature is elegantly conceived. The neck curves into the coiffure forming a beautiful tidal wave like design. The patina is deep and smokey from decades of use and storage in the long house.
