Weaving Awl

Dayak Tribe, Borneo, Indonesia
19th Century

This beautiful awl is constructed of various mediums: wood, iron, buffalo horn and deer antler. The handle consists of abstract interlocking Aso dragon figures, heads and bodies; and has acquired a fine worn patina from generations of use and handling. This example is special due to it being entirely complete; everything is original and intact. The ironwork is especially fine speaking to the object's early vintage.

This Awl is 7.5" in length.
