Provenance: Collected in the 1970's by James Gavin

Carved out of Buffalo horn, this unique spoon from Timor, Indonesia is exquisitely carved. The base of the spoon is smoothly patinated, while the handle is intricately carved. The handle depicts important iconographical traditions from the Timor region. The top of the handle has been fashioned into a large bird's head with feather detail, while two smaller avian figures are intertwined into the decorative positive space of the handle itself.
