Aso

This aso figure was originally an architectureal element of a longhouse. Aso figures are one of the most important protective mythological creatures in Dayak lore. This dynamic carving is ready to spring out into the air. It is carved from ironwood, which is extremely dense. It has a beautiful, gray weathered surface with remnants of old pigment. It is in excellent condition.

Length is 13 inches, height is 4.5 inches.
