Stopper from Bamboo Medicine Container

Nagju Dayak, Borneo, Indonesia, 19th century

This seated ancestor figure is beautifully sculpted. The tilt of the head together with the flowing arms and legs, give this miniature an elegant presence. The stopper has a thick, dark sacrificial patina.

It stands 4.5 inches tall.
