Heavily adorned with markers of nobility, this figure is depicted seated on a stool, hands resting on top of its knees and adorned with a necklace, ornate crown, and single earring. The carving of the figure’s genitals is a common feature in Nias ancestor figures. The broad shoulders and serious expression give off a sense of power and authority. This depiction is of a high ranking tribesman and was once attached to a prominent altar, serving as a protector for the home.
