Weaving Awl
Dayak Tribe, Borneo, Indonesia, 19th Century
This beautiful awl is constructed of various mediums: wood, iron, buffalo horn and deer antler. The handle consists of abstract interlocking Aso dragon figures, heads and bodies; and has acquired a fine worn patina from generations of use and handling. This example is special due to it being entirely original and intact. The ironwork is especially fine speaking to the object’s early vintage.
